E-business solutions create a shop on line experience for consumers and business associates alike. At first glance it appears that you have to sell something on line in an online store, eshop or web shop. This certainly is a major part of e-business, however, with the advent of web 2.0 techniques, the opportunities are much wider. It all starts with a carefully designed and hosted web site.
The main issues here are design (aesthetics), functionality (ease of use) and profitability (sales). Good design sells: an ugly web site can be quite distracting. Good functionality is a must and sales must be generated or the site defies its purpose. Next, you need to add e-commerce capabilities which involves building an eshop with the usual refinements of product catalogue, online payments, fast delivery, user feedback/reviews, etc. We know what your are thinking: I do not sell anything online! True, but you could, even if you deliver the services the old fashioned way. This brings you to web applications: scheduling jobs and appointments, bidding for jobs, hunting for material, billing the customer and collecting payments, inviting feedback and reviews, etc.
Not to mention building an e-mail list for e-mail marketing that is considered one of the most targeted ways of promoting your business. You can use these applications to analyze your competition, to do market research, to poll the potential customers, and to better plan and optimize your business. Want to train future employees? No problem, get some e-learning tools and start delivering training sessions globally. Or learn a new method yourself and improve your offering through the many e-learning modules that technical school are offering. Should you have more than one location, webinars and web meetings are the way to communicate with your associates. Electronic business is here to stay, in fact, you need to get packed soon because the moving van is coming: you are moving to the clouds!
